Shou Sugi Ban

I really didn´t like the greenish hue that the pressurized timber have after a years of exposure. Algea accumulated and it really had a unkept appearance.
So I got inspired by Bjorn Bjorholm and the new fence he burned with a propande torch. The technique is called Shou Sugi Ban and means something like burned cedar. This is my first try, but I like the way it looked. Hopefully the appearance will stay the same year after year.

The old green pressurised timber, discolored with algea. And the new burned parts.

After the burning process, I brushed the boards with a steel brush and rinsed it with water. Some say you need to protect the finish, and maybe I will put som oil on it this summer. Time will tell.
