Differences in growth

Two years ago I got to take a few cuttings of Chojubai (japanese quince) from a friend. All of them took and I repotted them this spring into pure lava. The only difference was the container choice. Half of them were repotted into ordinary nursery plastic pots, and the other half into pond baskets.

Although a very unscientific study, the following pictures show the difference in topgrowth as well as root growth. I will let the ones in pond baskets grow on a few more years, and the ones in nursery pots will probably be repotted into pond baskets this coming spring.
